Pre-meeting activity: have girls write down on newsprint what they would like to do in Brownies this year

 

5:45-6:00 pm

  • Welcome/Introduction to parents & girls (attendance-sign in sheet)/registration

6:00-6:05 pm

  • 4B Learn the Brownie Song

6:05 – 6:20 pm

  • Girls introduction (*complete information forms)
  • 2C Find out what your new Brownie friends like to do
    • discuss what the girls wrote down about what they would like to do in Brownies this year

6:20-6:25 pm

  • 2A Sing a welcoming song
    • (to the tune of “Did You Ever See a Lassie” off-site link)

6:25 – 6:35 pm

  • 4A Listen to The Brownie story and the story of the Brownie Toadstool.
    • Read pages 8-16 and page 22 in Brownie book

6:35-6:45 pm

  • 1B Learn the Brownie Motto and how to make the Brownie Sign and Handshake
    • Brownie Motto: Lend a Hand
    • The Brownie Sign and Handshake: To make the Brownie Sign, raise your right hand as high as your shoulder. Hold your first two fingers upright. With your thumb, hold the third and fourth fingers down. The Brownie Handshake is done with the left hand.
  • 1A Learn Brownie Promise
    • Brownie Promise
      I promise to do my best,
      to be true to myself, my beliefs and Canada,
      I will take action for a better world
      And respect the Brownie Law.
    • Concept of personal best, explaining that it means paying attention, trying hard and being happy with their achievements. Stress the importance of being adaptable and determined; if one thing doesn’t work, try something else that will.
    • Story: "I Promise" Participation Story
